After much change within the appearance department I have come to wonder….
Do we change how we look according to what is desired at the time or to create a visual form of our inner selves?
Over the past few weeks I have had my hair cut, bluntly to shoulder length, had my upper ear pierced and dyed my hair bright red. I think as I progress through univercity not only am I discovering a lot about what I like an dislike for example;
- I now like music that I previously wouldn’t have appriciated eg. Bonobo, Maxxi Sound System, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Lucy Rose, Foals….
- I have become more aware of the beauty of my surroundings aka architecture and art when I previously didn’t really care about the two.
- I now appriciate the opinions of others whereas before I was right and that was that.
I think on a whole I have become a more open person but the question of my change in appearance still stands.
I think, in my case, these changes are to create a visual form of my inner self. To portray an image that will allow people to see who I am on a small level before getting to know me and above all else to see what possibilities there are when it comes to my appearance.
I am very pleased with the results and I think the red hair is a keeper.
Thierry Cohen thought of an ingenious way to show what the night sky would look like without light pollution.
He starts by photographing the stars above less populated areas that fall on the same latitudes. He then replaces the polluted skies above the cities with pristine views of what they could be seeing every night.
